Begonia erythrophylla {Beefsteak Begonia} 175MM

$24.00

Begonia erythrophylla, deemed the Beefsteak Begonia, is a hybrid Begonia that was developed in 1845 Germany and is still produced to this day. The large, round, translucent leaves are dark olive green to bronze in color with bright green veining. The leaf undersides are a gorgeous red color, which gleams through when backlit. Displays a profusion of pink flowers on red stems.

Begonias grow best in well-drained, humus-rich soil with moderate water. They prefer high humidity and indirect light. Apply a slow-release fertilizer sparingly in spring. This makes a beautiful accent plant for a border or container, but is primarily used as a houseplant.
